Gas Safety
Can you install a carport or patio canopy if your gas boiler flue makes its exit from the house through the wall where the proposed canopy is to be sited?
The answer to this question is yes providing that the canopy is at least 200mm above where the flue is and that all openings into the house, i.e. windows and doors, are at least 1.2meters away from the flue. Ideally the flue should be above where the roof is to be installed. The definitive rules on this are Buildings Regulations Document J to be found at the www.planningportal.gov.uk. Our surveyor will always check this measurement for you.
